Loss of the Charioteer

100
years ago on the 17th of January 1912 the Tugboat 'Charioteer'
owned by Samuel George Morgan left Swansea Harbour to dock the
Cunard vessel ss 'Veria'. There was a thick fog and somewhere
off the Gower coast she was struck by the ss 'Veria'. The
Veria searched the area but no trace of the tug or her crew of
five could be found.
The Board of Trade enquiry gave her position as off the Hellwick
Lightship
