Dear Ivor, I have done some research on the internet regarding the "Cadans". She was a "General Cargo" vessel of 495 tons gross built in 1958 by the Bodewes Shipyard in Hoogezand, Netherlands. She was renamed in 1969 as the "Armenistis", as the "Meltimi" in 1991, the "Georgia M" in 1992, "Ag.Necktarios" in 1996 and "Blue Eye" in 1999. Her last know flag was Bolivia. I think she must be scrapped now as I can find no record of her through her IMO number of 5057084. An interesting history - rather like a used car going from owner to owner, each taking rather less care of her until she ended her days after 50 years service . |
She arrived in Swansea for the first and last time on 20. Nov 1967 from Rotterdam where she had discharged a cargo of meat due to a dispute at London Docks. At Swansea she loaded general cargo and about three hundred passengers embarked for New Zealand. The last liner built for the NZSC, 17851 tons, she was launched on 27th July 1950. |
